When you feel your mind is calm enough, that is when you should mindfully lean in.
You have been meditating twice daily, long sittings mostly, for a few days now.
As it always happens, you see the benefit, and this new normal becomes comfortable.
Your dedication to the next sitting becomes half hearted: “I’m ok as it is.”
Instead, this is the time to do deeper work.
It doesn’t mean you are never satisfied.
It means you allow gravity to pull you ever deeper.
There is probably no end to this depth.
You are cheating yourself by settling on an arbitrary bar for “calm mind”.
When the mind is calm, smile in acknowledgement.
Then when it is time to sit again… surrender completely, to a deeper and deeper serenity.
