Drawing like a kid

Everything we do seems to have a purpose:
Exercise for energy,
journal for insight,
meditate for peace,
work for wealth.

I always wondered as a kid why adults seemed so serious.
One of the signs of adulthood seems to be the disappearance of joyous laughter.
When every line of action has a predictable destination… it is not living, but a well oiled machine.

If you know what the good outcome looks like before you start then you just need to execute.
But magic only arises when you accept not-knowing – and still move forward:
Painting with emotions vs. by numbers,
playing for the sake of it vs. for the win,
a chef vs. a cook.

Purposeful action brings sanity to our day to day,
but life energy expresses itself when you lean in without knowing the outcome.
You just need ONE avenue for this force to spill over into the rest of your day to day.

Questions to ponder:

  • What is my avenue for “drawing like a kid”?
  • How frequently do I play through it?

Color drawing with my niece: enormous fun, unpredictable result!
